Can I use VerdiBlot with my existing Western blot protocol?

Accepted Answer

VerdiBlot membrane is compatible with wet/semi-dry transfer methods. For Wet transfer, use your protocol as usual. For semi-dry transfer please refer to the User Guide to get more details about optimal conditions.

Do I need to activate the membrane?

Accepted Answer

You do not need to activate the membrane with pure methanol or ethanol. To activate the membrane it is enough to submerge it in transfer buffer containing >10% EtOH/MeOH for a few minutes. Activating it in 100% MeOH or EtOH is possible but produces no change in the results.

Can I use VerdiBlot for both chemiluminescence and fluorescence detection?

Yes, the membrane is optimized to offer very low background in both.

Can the membrane be stripped and reprobed?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the membrane can be stripped and reprobed multiple times. Please refer to the User Guide to find examples of protocols that perform well with the membrane. It is possible to use commercially avilable stripping buffers but do not heat the membrane over 35 C when stripping, this will alter its properties and might affect its performance.
